CO2 Plants
High-Pressure CO2 Plants
“System BUSE” high-pressure tank plants for CO2 are used wherever smaller quantities of CO2 are needed for gaseous use with low energy expenditure, even at high pressure.
They have been designed for a max. admissible operating overpressure of 80 bar and can be considered as ultra-large steel cylinders. During storage, the operating pressure in the tank depends on the ambient conditions and at +20ºC, for example, it is approx. 60 bar.
A standard water safety cooling system prevents an inadmissibly high pressure increase even in the event of intense solar radiation.
Standard tank sizes:
- Horizontal type: from a nominal 1,100 kg to 15,000 kg
- Vertical type: nominally 5,000 kg and 10,000 kg
Low-Pressure CO2 Plants
“System BUSE” insulated CO2 tank plants – designed for a max. admissible operating pressure of 22 bar – enable the safe and economic storage of cryogenic, liquid carbon dioxide (CO2).
It can be removed from these tank plants either in liquid or gaseous form in a continuous or discon-tinuous way.If large gaseous quantities are needed, we recommend liquid withdrawal and the use of downstream evaporator systems.
Standard tank sizes:
- Horizontal type from a nominal 3,000 to 100,000 kg
- Vertical type from a nominal 10,000 to 100,000 kg
CO2 Production Plants
BUSE CO2 production plants are compact, reliable production plants built using a modular design. With the combustion of fuel oil, the CO2 gas is produced and separated from the flue gas. The surfaces within the production plant which come into contact with damp CO2 and a hot monoethanol-amine solution (MEA) are made of stainless steel.
The final liquid or gaseous CO2 product meets highest quality demands with a guaranteed purity grade of at least 99.98%. All requirements of large, global soft drink companies are met without any problems. BUSE is a world leader in terms of the quality of CO2 produced by means of its plant engineering. Standardized plants are available for a capacity range of 30 kg/h up to 1,000 kg/h, and plants with a larger capacity can also be also provided on request.
CO2 plants have to suit to the individual customer’s requirements. In designing and constructing the plant, BUSE engineering takes the respective local conditions into consideration (in terms of space and climate) as well as your individual requests.
Our plants are designed using modern 3D CAD systems. This enables optimal solutions under even the most difficult space conditions, minimizing the time needed for setting up the plant using exact drawings.
CO2 Recovery Plants
BUSE CO2 recovery plants are compact, reliable plants built using a modular design, which recovers and processes the CO2 from already existing crude gases. For a wide range of different raw gases, for example:
- from the processes of fermentation (brewery / distillery)
- from chemical processes
- from natural sources
- from dry ice production
- from bioethanol plants
- from firing systems (flue gas recovery)
we offer appropriate processing solutions, providing our clients with the simple and cost-efficient recovery of the CO2 contained in the crude gas.

Filling Stations
Many of our customers sell the CO2 produced using BUSE plants in steel cylinders. During filling, the safe, ideally scheduled operating cycles as well as durable, trouble-free and low-maintenance operation are imperative.
These characteristics are all brought together in BUSE CO2 filling stations, which promise high operating safety and offer crucial advantages for our customers all over the world.
Mobile Tank Systems
Based on our decades of experience in the field of CO2 engineering, BUSE develops and delivers all types of transport possibilities for cryogenic, liquid CO2, for example:
- Road tankers
- Railway tank wagons
- BUSE “ITOS” system mobile tank plants
Each of these three systems guarantees the user a reliable supply for his customers or his own personal requirements of liquid CO2. All three transport systems are also used by BUSE. The experience we have acquired in our own factories has been incorporated in the development of these transport systems.
Stationary Tank Plants
BUSE offers two different storage systems for liquid CO2:
- High-pressure CO2 tank plants
- Low-pressure CO2 tank plants
There is a wide range of equipment options for both tank systems from which our customers can put together their ideal supply unit.

Dry Ice Equipment
Dry ice is the solid state form of carbon dioxide (CO2). During the expansion of liquid CO2 below the triple point, finely powdered snow with a temperature of approx. -78.9°C is generated. In a dry ice press, this snow is formed into blocks and discs.
BUSE Jet Dry Ice Blasting Units
We have established a new standard for dry ice jet cleaning: not only does it fulfil a wide range of applications, but also meets the current requirements for greater economical efficiency and greater environmental protection.
With the BUSE dry ice blasting equipment, slight soiling and the most serious industrial contamination according to the Mohs hardness scale can be dealt with in an economical as well as environmentally sound way. BUSE dry ice jet cleaning is now even more efficient.
All types of BUSE Jet equipment are built in accordance with the common CE standards and the high quality of the BUSE works has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001. The long-standing experience of the BUSE group guarantees compliance with quality and safety standards, and includes the competent training of operators if requested. BUSE – an international model for “Made in Germany”.
Overhauling, Modernizing and Repairing
The BUSE tank service overhauls non-insulated and PU foam-insulated tanks for liquid CO2 as well as vacuum-insulated tanks for other gases (N2, H2, O2, Ar, CO2, N2O …).
The tanks reach a capacity of up to 100,000 liters, and the operating pressures go up to 200 bar.The tank systems are equipped with weighing systems, control panels, cooling machines and heaters depending on customer’s requirements.
We will overhaul, repair and modernize your tanks on site and upgrade other tank types. To round off our range of services, we carry out hydrostatic tests, internal inspections, inspections by a qualified person in accordance with the regulations concerning operational safety, as well as electrical operational safety inspections.
Service and Workmanship
In our state-of-the-art factory, our staff carry out commissioned work for large tanks, semi-trailers and other large parts (L 13 x W 4 x H 4 m) with a net weight of up to 40 t.
Further services we provide are sand-blasting, varnishing, welding, soldering and bending work in accordance with the highest standards. Manufacturers of plant components and forwarders as well can benefit financially from our expertise in such work.
Storage
Our factory depot in Steinheim-Bergheim has more than 15,000 m² of storage space, which can be considerably extended on our premises for a medium period of time.
Our customers can store their tanks before and after repair or overhauling until further use.Loading is carried out by means of our special transport vehicles and cranes.
Our large storage capacities enable us to assume a central role in the tank management of our customers.
